How we transfer your account from another webhosting company
Recent issues at your current wordpress hosting company have you down ? Mariehosting.com will help you migrate your shared hosting wordpress website to mariehosting.com free of charge. Sign up for an account and then submit an email to tech support and we will be more than happy to help you migrate your website. We are experts in wordpress hosting, wordpress web design and more. We are unable to transfer email accounts directly we recommend that you use pop3(instad of Imap) and download all your existing email, If you like to use Imap you can resetup your email box as imap and resynchronize email to the new server. Let us know when you would like us to migrate the site, as it can take up to 48 hours for the new DNS to resolve, we want to make sure the process goes smoothly with no stale data, or downtime.
Here are the steps we take to migrate your existing wordpress website.
1. Export data in phpmyadmin. In order to do this we will need any hosting account information you have access to; control panel login, ftp logins, and mysql information, if you would like us to attempt to transfer your email accounts you will need to provide email addresses and passwords, or we can reset this information for you.
2. Compress wordpress and website files.
3. Import wordpress files to new server.
4. Import database to new server.
5. Configure wordpress site using temporary cpanel user address.
6. Verify installation using temporary cpanel user address.
7. Recommend client updates dns, nameservers to the new hosting account. Let the client know the database, email, mysql database migration process is completed. (checklist with items completed to the client.)
*After updating the dns it can take up to 48 hours for the new nameservers and DNS to propagate the internet. At this time email, and mysql information may become “stale” or out of date.
If you have cpanel hosting currently, we have resources to migrate the account easier then the above steps. We will need your cpanel login information for the current hosting provider in order to migrate your account from one cpanel server to another.

Do you need a static ip address for self signed SSL certificates?
Yes, you need to have a Static IP for using your own SSL., secondly SSL’s are basically used when people need to carry out online transaction from their own site.
TO use an SSL your host will provide you with a CSR file which you need to submit it to an SSL Certificate provider , he will then in turn provide you with the CRT that you can install on your required domain eg. ( http://secure.yourdomain.com ). Its always advisable to install the certificate on the subdomain.
What is a shared SSL?
With shared SSL you get the benefits of SSL with out the costs that are usually associated with setting up a SSL on the server. with Shared SSL you use your web hosting company’s SSL certificate. With shared SSL you usually get a secure url like https://esc##.midphase.com/~username
The Cpanel server provides users with a shared SSL and will always prompt you with a warning message before you can use it.
Its not a professional method to use a shared SSL for conducting online transactions.

Why do you restrict outgoing port access? Why do you charge for a dedicated IP?

We restrict outgoing port access as a result of the shared hosting environment. In this environment every account on a server shares a single IP address. As a result some outgoing ports are blocked because no single account is assigned the IP address for the box. Purchasing a dedicated IP address allows your account to have the ability to use a SSL certificate.
We require that you pay for the dedicated IP address because we have to purchase the IP addresses from our provider. Leasing the IP addresses is done in large batches to minimize costs. This price is included in the SSL pack pricing which includes an SSL and static ip.
Do I get a Site Seal when I purchase an SSL Certificate?

I ordered an SSL or static IP and now my site is down. Why?

When you order a SSL we assign a static ip to your account. A static ip is required for securing the traffic between your website visitors and your website. The SSL encrypts the session between the visitor and your site. When we assign a static ip, the new information about where the site is located has to propagate across the internet. Usually this only take about four hours.
Unable to send e-mail
If you are able to receive e-mail, but are having difficulty in sending e-mail using Outlook, Outlook Express, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, etc., then there are a few possibilities:
1. Make sure that you have your SMTP server setup correctly. The server will be your domain name. You’ll also want to confirm that you have it setup to authenticate with your mailbox username and password.
2. The more likely problem is that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) blocks external SMTP servers from being used when you are on their network. Contact your ISP and ask them what SMTP server you should be using.
3. If all else fails, please contact support and we’ll assist you.
